Ladies and gentlemen, Respected Guests, Friends, Collogues. On behalf
of RangManch Canda, I welcome you all, to the much awaited and First Time Ever,”Hindustani Drama Festival 2004. This
is a very humble presentation of our rich heritage if Indian Theater. For me it is Dream Comes True. Let me quote an Urdu
Couplet, a Sher of famous poet Majrooh Sultanpuri, to express my sentiments.
hi chala tha Janib-e-Manzil Magar
Aatey gaye aur KarvaN banta gaya
I ventured alone in this journey,
bur soon people started joining me, and Lo we have a Caravan here. Yes a Caravan of theater lovers, a Caravan of talented
Artists from various language and culture.I am sure each one present here are well aware of Shakespeare, but when we ask a Tamil group about an Urdu
stage or vice versa, they are not familiar. Same is in North India versa South India. We are happy in our own little Island
of culture and theater. Bur now “RamgManch Canada” has taken up the task of making bridges between Languages in
our own Island. I am happy that I am not alone today. I have 10 different presentations with me today. Today we will write
a new history of sharing and caring in our theater.
I have a very simple philosophy of life, tolerance, acceptance and love.
Unless we start tolerating others, we will not accept them, and once you start accepting others, you are bond to love them.
Lets start this love theory in theatre from today. With this I would
like to invite Honorable Minister of Transport Mr. Harender Takhar to inaugurate this
festival and encourage us with his comments.
